Tim McGill aka Timbo passed away on 27th February 2010. Tim was a regular at the Prince both in front and behind the bar.

A genuinely lovely guy who liked a drink but also took part in historical re-enactment as an English Civil War Pikeman, if memory serves. Many of you who worked at the Post Office will no doubt remember Timbo.

He’ll be sorely missed.

Spread the word, boys and girls, the next Prince of Orange Reunion is on Saturday 17th July 2010 at O’Connors in Hall Street Chelmsford.

This year’s reunion will be dedicated to absent friends who made the Prince so special.

It starts at 14.00 and goes on until midnight. For those of you with unbounding stamina or you just feel like going somewhere else afterwards, Mustard www.mustardbistro.co.uk will be opening its basement bar for larks and japes and musical caperings until 2am.

Let’s make this bigger and better than last year!

Richard Hambling, known to many locals and Prince regulars alike, passed away today at 15.20 in Broomfield Hospital,
He was a well loved man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Our thoughts go to Richard’s family on this sad day.

Details of the funeral arrangements will be posted on this and the Facebook once we know more.

Welcome to the Prince of Orange website.  A complementary site to the Facebook Group. Created by the very wonderful Jansen Mann at Brilliant Folk, this site is dedicated to the Prince of Orange pub and all the amazing people who passed through its hallowed portals during the late 1970′s to the late 1990′s.

Whilst this site looks at the past, it looks forward too and in the spirit of the Prince we want this site to reflect what’s going in the music and social scene.  It’s still early days and we are still working on content but please take time to peruse the photos which we hope will be a little easier to view than the Facebook group. There will be more photos on the way.

We’ve set up a Forum page for you to contribute to and we’ll be inviting you to add your own posts.

The music page will feature regularly updated mixes of old and new tunes, while the bands page will feature info on bands new and old.

We hope you’ll enjoy this site and help make it a global community and don’t forget that the next Prince of Orange reunion is on 17th July 2010.
